Sergeant Drew Castonguay
Sergeant Drew Castonguay grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts and after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, Drew served as a Master at Arms, conducting law enforcement and harbor security operations for Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. After four years in the Navy, he left active duty to start a career with the Portland Police Department. He now works as Portland PD’s Recruitment Sergeant and is a member of the Honor Guard, Crisis Negotiations Team and Motor Unit. Drew earned his associate’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2017 from Southern Maine Community College and his bachelor’s degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies in 2022 from the University of Southern Maine. Want to schedule a virtual 1-on-1 meeting with Sergeant Castonguay? Officer Zach Grass
Officer Zach Grass grew up locally in Windham, Maine. He graduated from Southern Maine Community College with an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. He joined the department in 2014 as an experienced correctional officer. Zach was temporarily assigned to the Old Port Summer Footbeat where he built relationships within the community, while walking the beat. He currently serves on A team, working day shift. He enjoys spending his time off with his wife and sons.
Officer Jeremy Turner
Officer Jeremy Turner grew up in Portland and graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in music. Prior to being hired as a police officer in 2016, Jeremy worked three years for the department as a 911 operator and dispatcher. Officer Turner is a Field Training Officer and currently works on the overnight shift covering a Deering patrol beat. In his spare time Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family, coaching soccer, and singing in a jazz band. Â
Officer Ben Savage
Officer Ben Savage joined the department in January of 2016, and attended the 30th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. Ben was born in Burlington, Vermont, and moved to South Portland, Maine at a young age. He graduated from Thomas College Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2014. Prior to working as a Patrol Officer for the department, Ben spent two summers working as a Police Cadet. He is currently assigned to patrol team A-1, covering the Old Port. He has attended multiple trainings on de-escalation, drug interdiction and street crimes.Â
Officer Tom Reagan
Officer Tom Reagan grew up in Portland and graduated from Portland High School. He also graduated from Southern Maine Community College with an associate degree in Criminal justice and from University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology. Prior to being hired as a police officer in 2005, Tom worked as a Correctional Officer at Cumberland County Jail. During his time with Portland Police Department, Officer Reagan has been an explosive canine handler since 2010 and he is currently assigned to Portland International Jetport with his canine partner Bedi. In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys the outdoors and is a registered Maine guide in hunting. Tom guides moose hunts in the fall.Â
Officer Matt Gray
Officer Matt Gray grew up in San Diego, California before moving to Bristol, Connecticut for high school. Matt is an avid fisherman and spent his high school and college summers working as a deckhand on long range sportfishing boats chasing tuna and marlin around the Pacific Ocean. Matt enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves out of High School for six years as a Machine Gunner. Matt has always been interested in law enforcement and spent two summers as a reserve police officer in Old Orchard Beach before graduating from Norwich University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Matt was hired by the Portland Police Department in January of 2022 and graduated from the 41st Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. Matt is currently a member of the Recruitment & Retention team and works as an Evidence Technician. In his spare time he enjoys catching tuna and stripers on the Maine coast.
Officer Kevin Wilson
Officer Kevin Wilson grew up in Brunswick, Maine. After high school, Kevin attended Ursinus College and received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. After working as a strength and conditioning coach and baseball coach for seven years in the Southern Maine area, he joined the Portland Police Department in 2021. Kevin now works in the Community Policing Unit In addition to his patrol duties, Kevin is a defensive tactics instructor, taser instructor and a member of the Field Force team. When Kevin is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son hiking, skiing and camping.
Officer Deni Snajder
Officer Deni Snajder grew up in Serbia and came to the United States in 2016. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Physical Education from the University of Novi Sad. He currently serves on the evening patrol shift, covering a Deering beat. Before joining the Portland Police Department, he worked in corrections. Officer Snajder is an active member of the Honor Guard, the Field Force Team, the Hazardous Materials Team, and the Recruitment and Retention Team. In his free time, he enjoys staying active through racket sports and fitness.
Officer Chris McLaughlin
Officer Chris McLaughlin grew up in Wakefield, Massachusetts. He studied American history at Boston University before beginning a career in sales, working more than 10 years with Waste Management and Oracle Corporation. In January 2022, he pursued his long-time goal of becoming a police officer and joined the Portland Police Department. He currently works as a patrol officer on the evening shift and also serves on the department’s Peer Support Team. Outside of work, he enjoys working out, reading, golfing, and fishing.
Kate Morin
Kate grew up in Massachusetts and attended Bridgewater State University. She relocated to Maine shortly after college. She joined the Portland Police Department in 2014 and attended the 27th BLETP. Kate served as the departments first fulltime Recruitment Officer and during her time in that role she created the Recruitment and Retention Team. In 2021, Kate transitioned into her current, non-sworn position where she serves as the department’s Principal Administrative Officer, handling all hiring, personnel and Human Resources matters for the department.
